The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has reassured Nigerians that the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol will not be increased anytime soon. The company said that is not part of its plans.
The media space had been abuzz of insinuations that the pump price of petroleum would be increased to N1,200 per litre anytime soon.
Speaking through a public statement issued on Wednesday, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, described the insinuation as mere rumours and advised Nigerians to disregard it in its entirety. Soneye added that there is no need for nyone to engage in panic buying or hoarding of the product for the fear of hike in pump price.
He said, “NNPC Ltd assures the public that there is no imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol.
“NNPC Ltd urges Nigerians to disregard unfounded rumours and assures them that there are no plans for an upward review of the PMS price.
“Motorists nationwide are advised against engaging in panic buying, as there is presently ample availability of PMS across the country.” Soneye counselled.
