The Polytechnic, Ibadan has been renamed as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan, in honour of the late former governor of Oyo state who was the pioneer Rector of the institution.
The announcement was made Thursday by the state governor, Seyi Makinde during the interdenominational commendation service put together for the late former governor, in Ibadan.
Governor Makinde said: “I talked about preserving and digitising his library yesterday as a mark of honour to Baba Olunloyo,” the governor said.
“Today, we will be giving Baba another honour to immortalise him. He was the first Principal of The Polytechnic, Ibadan; that institution will now be named Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan.”
Dr Olunloyo served as Oyo State governor between 1 October 1983 and 31 December 1983. He died on April 6, 2025 shortly before his 90th Birthday.
