A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has issued an interim order freezing the bank accounts of TAK Logistics Limited, TAK Agro PLC, and their director, Thomas Akoh Etuh, in connection with funds totaling N24.9 billion.
The court granted the order following an ex parte application filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mofesomo Tayo-Oyetibo, on behalf of Keystone Bank Limited. The order includes a Mareva injunction, which restrains the defendants from withdrawing, transferring, or dissipating any funds, shares, dividends, or financial instruments in their possession.
All banks and financial institutions holding accounts for the defendants are required to preserve the funds and file affidavits within seven days, providing details of account balances and bank statements.
The court also directed the defendants not to dispose of any movable or immovable property valued up to N24.9 billion pending the resolution of the case.
A further order was made for substituted service on Thomas Etuh, the third defendant, allowing court documents to be served via courier or posted at his known address.
The court’s order reads: “The Defendants, including their directors, agents, and representatives, are restrained from withdrawing, transferring, dissipating, or otherwise dealing with funds, shares, dividends, or financial instruments up to N24,934,741,718.91, or any part of it, in their accounts.”
Additionally, any bank or financial institution where the defendants hold accounts must immediately preserve the funds, with compliance to be confirmed within seven days through affidavits stating the balances and relevant account statements.
The court also prohibited the defendants from transferring, selling, or otherwise dealing with any property valued up to N24.9 billion.
The interim order will remain in effect for seven days following service, pending further court proceedings. The case has been adjourned to July 22, 2025, for continued hearings.
