Marking its 18th Founder’s Day, Crescent University, Abeokuta on Friday rewarded six Nigerians who have distinguished themselves with Bola Ajibola Community Service Awards 2024 in four categories including ‘Welfare and Child Ethics’, ‘Reading Culture and Education Advocacy’, ‘Da’wah and Hospital Welfare Support’ and Entrepreneurship and Leadership Mentoring .
One of the awardee, an Owu-Abeokuta kingmaker, ace broadcaster and author, Chief Abiodun Lasile for promotion of reading culture and education advocacy in Nigeria through his numerous children books for schools in the country just as the Institution recognized five others for their exemplary leadership in entrepreneurship and humanitarian activities in the society
Lasile, the Orunto of Owu kingdom,a media guru with several years of service with NTA, critic, creative designer, story teller and publisher whose literature textbooks approved for pupils in Ogun, Abia,Akwa-Ibom, and Anambra States was honoured with Community Service Award in the category of Promotion of Reading Culture and Education Advocacy for encouraging good reading culture amongst children in schools
Similarly, Mrs Stella Willoughby, a lecturer, university administrator and Executive Secretary of Ijamido Children Home whose contributions to orphanage and academic excellence,was appreciated for her selfless service by the university with Bola Ajibola Community Service Award in the category of Promotion of Orphan and Child Care Ethics while Islamic Humanitarian Society of Nigeria was duly recognized for the organization’s commitment to humanitarian services in correctional centers in the country with Bola Ajibola Community Service Award in Prison Da’wah activities and Hospital Welfare Support category
Other awardees including Mr.Babatunde Denton, a core professional with over 15years in the real estate industry, Mr.Akeem Salami Adeola, a product of Mass Communication Department from the prestigious Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta, an advertising and Public Relations expert and Mr Adeola Adelanwa , a graduate of Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos, a manufacturer who founded the first truck-based catering company in the country, Mobile Kitchen Limited were honoured by the university with the Community Service Award in the category of Entrepreneurship and Leadership Mentoring for providing exemplary leadership for the young generation of Nigerians.
Guest Lecturer at the 2024 Founder’s Day, Dr(Mrs) Tamramat Mosun Belo-Olusoga speaking on the theme of the event “Competence And Self-Determination For Women Leaders”, stressed the need for women to invest more in personal development to excel in their respective leadership roles in the society.
A guru in the banking industry encourage women to be courageous and determined to succeed at any given opportunities, if they must be recognized in the all fields of human endeavours
Also sharing the same view, the Olowu of Owu-Abeokuta, Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola in his Keynote speech as Royal Father of the event, emphasized the need for competent among women to succeed in their various leadership position.
The monarch who described as women as better leaders, stressed the need to give more attention to education and development of women because of their great influence in the society.
Proprietor and Chairman, Board of Trustees of Crescent University, Prince Mahruf Adesegun Ajibola(SAN) while pledging the board’s resolve to move institution to the next level of academic excellence, rewarded lecturer and students in the Bola Ajibola College of Law for doing the school proud as a sole representative of Nigeria and entire continent of Africa at an international event in France .
The proprietor, who said that his father would have clocked 90 years old today, appreciated everyone for showing love and support despite the fact that his father was no more.
