The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, is set to host President Bola Tinubu at a book presentation, scheduled for May 10, at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago -Iwoye in Ogun.

Adetona model”, is part of activities lined up to mark the 64th coronation anniversary and 90th birthday celebration of Oba Adetona.
Dr Adekunle Hassan, chairman, planning committee of the anniversary, disclosed this at a news conference on Friday at the Awujale’s palace in Ijebu Ode.
Hassan explained that there would also be a documentary on the legendary traditional ruler.
According to him, an iconic multi-billion Naira school of governance bequeathed to the university for postgraduate studies and research will be inaugurated.
The planning committee chairman noted that the events, which are part of activities lined up to mark the twin celebration, will all take place at the university on May 10.
“For these and many other reasons too numerous to state, we, his subjects have decided to celebrate the twin events of his 64th Coronation anniversary and 90th birthday anniversary.
“On Friday, May 3, there will be a Jum’at Service at the Ijebu Ode Central Mosque, followed by a Thanksgiving Church Service at the Cathedral Church of Our Saviour, Itaolowajoda, Ijebu Ode.
“On Friday, May 10, the exact date of his 90th birthday, he will be playing host to the President of the country, Sen. Bola Tinubu and numerous other country men and women at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye.
“The president will witness 2024 edition of the annual Oba Adetona Professorial Chair Lecture on Governance and a documentary on the legendary traditional ruler.
“The grand finale holds on Saturday, May 11, when the Ijebu nation will be hosting a civic reception in honour of their king, who is the Ijebu deity at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode,” he said.
Hassan, who described the Awujale as a patriot and nationalist of the highest order, said that he (Awujale) was officially crowned on April 2, 1960 as the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland.
According to him, Adetona represents the totality of the worthy ancestral heritage of a people that have carved a niche for themselves in governance.
