The Alliance for Yoruba Democratic Movements, AYDM on Wednesday held his Summit in Lagos state to brainstorm on challenges and necessary solutions bothering Nigeria today .
Chairman of the Movement, Mr Adewale Adeoye in his remark at the occasion describes the three 3 challenge facing the country in time today , he highlights on Food ,Leadership, Human and Environmental security which are the indices that threaten human development, according to him ,
“Hundred millions of Nigerians no Longer have access to good food which is tied to poverty, deprivation poor health, depression,hunger and misery, less than 80 % lands are not cultivated which have snowball into insecurity in the country .”
Adesoye further states that insecurity is on the high side as terrorism is the order of the day , killings are in large numbers with Benue state recording 119 attacks between January to December last year , these act have hereby placed Internal Displaced people IDP at 2 million in Benue state .
Meanwhile, Mr Tunde Rahman, Senior special Adviser Media , representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu suggested that stakeholders should always come forward with their details as align to the federal government, noting that patient is required to resolve issues ,
” We need to know that we need patient to resolve some issue that bother the country that is why Mr President, have portrayed good leadership with the organized labour NLC over the minimum wage on all sectors ,he was involved in consultation, and engagement of the unions, which was agreed on 70,000 , minimum wage,a hundred percent over the existing wages , that is the power of dialogue and conflict resolution , so we need come out with our resolution that will enhance governance, that I why commend the organizers”
He also emphasize on the important of the summit which he describe as the coming together of different groups to reload their voice to the Federal government which Is part of social involvement, he urged non state actors like “Not to young to Run” to play a major role of galvanizing other groups to contribute meaningfully to the government with their contribution and align demand instead of protest .
Hence , other stakeholders from the Arewa groups lend their voice on the issue of sustainable democracy and the role of non state actors , Alhaji Abubakar Kudu , AYF stress on the need to review the constitution and democracy which have causes more harm to governance than good .
The summit was attended by members of Yoruba Artisans and traders , Odua People Congress (Reformed) , Arewa Youth Forum, stakeholders from organized sectors.
