The camp of Gbenga Abiola, former Vice Chairman of Agege Local Governemnt and popularly known as AGBELEBU, has released video evidence that it claims contradicts the official results of the recently conducted APC House of Assembly primaries in Agege Constituency 01.
See video below
A video recording made available to thewest newspaper by supporters of Abiola shows what they describe as over 1,000 party members openly participating and voting in Ward 002. This stands in sharp contrast to the official figure of 28 votes that was eventually announced for the aspirant in that ward.
According to APC members who support Abiola and spoke with thewest, the video is one of several pieces of evidence emerging from multiple wards across the constituency. They told our reporter that similar discrepancies occurred in Ward 003, where less than 80 votes were officially allocated to Abiola despite what they claim was a visible turnout exceeding 1,200 voters captured on video and photographic evidence.
“We have the video materials, voter slips, and eyewitness accounts,” one party faithful told thewest on condition of anonymity. “The final result announced does not reflect what we all saw with our own eyes.”
Other supporters who spoke with thewest described the declared outcome as inconsistent with the reality witnessed across the constituency. They alleged that the final figures released did not represent the true will of APC members who participated peacefully in the process.
Across other wards within the constituency, the Abiola supporters insisted that the same pattern was repeated, with video materials and eyewitness accounts allegedly contradicting the final result announced.
Many party stakeholders and youths within Agege have therefore called for transparency, fairness, and a proper review of the primary process, according to multiple APC members who contacted thewest. They emphasized that the integrity of the APC’s internal democratic system must be protected.
Supporters of AGBELEBU also inisted that the aspirant’s popularity, grassroots structure, youth support, and longstanding humanitarian impact across Agege were evident throughout the exercise and could not have translated into the low figures eventually declared.
“This struggle is not merely about personal ambition,” a supporter who identified himself as a party member in Agege told our correspondent. “It is about defending the genuine mandate and voice of party members in Agege Constituency 01.”
As more videos and evidence continue to surface online and across various platforms, pressure continues to mount for the rightful outcome of the primaries to be acknowledged in line with what Abiola’s supporters claim were the true votes cast by APC members. thewest has not independently verified the video footage and reports these claims solely as presented by the sources.
Meanwhile, the APC has said before an official winner is declared, the results must undergo verification by the party’s NWC and state leadership to ensure compliance with party guidelines.
