The Ogun State Ministry of Environment has ordered the immediate closure of two business premises and a livestock farm for flagrant violations of environmental laws.
The Acting Chairman of the Ministry’s Task Force, Hon. Tolu Poviwhede, disclosed that the affected establishments were Crystal Palace Hotel, Adigbe; Maa’bey Bakery, Laderin; and a livestock farm in Soyoye
He noted that all the business premises, located in Abeokuta, were sealed during an enforcement exercise for repeated failure to comply with basic environmental standards, despite prior notices and warnings.
Poviwhede stated that inspections conducted by the task force revealed serious infractions, including poor sanitation practices, noise pollution, improper waste disposal, and non-compliance with prescribed environmental safety measures.
He emphasised that the state government would not tolerate activities that endanger public health and the environment.
“The era of doing business at the expense of the environment is over. We will continue to take decisive action wherever infractions are found,” he said.
Poviwhede urged business owners to take responsibility by strictly adhering to environmental regulations, noting that compliance remained the surest way to avoid disruptions and penalties.
Residents of Adigbe and Laderin commended the enforcement exercise, describing it as a timely intervention to address environmental and public health concerns in their communities.
