The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). According to NECO spokesperson Azeez Sani, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination, which was conducted across 12 subjects.
The examination began on 12th May 2025 and concluded on 23rd May 2025.
In a statement, Sani explained that the results were released following the successful conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna.
He noted that the committee, chaired by Dr. (Mrs.) Folake Olatunji David, Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, expressed satisfaction with the processes leading to the release of the results.
The meeting was attended by secondary school principals from across the country and members of NECO’s management team. Sani also announced that the committee has approved the date and timetable for the 2025 BECE re-sit examination.
The re-sit is scheduled to take place on 23rd and 24th July 2025 for Mathematics and English Studies. The BECE is a national examination taken by students in their final year of Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) and is a key requirement for progression to senior secondary school.
