Mr Omoyele Adekunle, Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, says officers of the state security outfit will be on ground to provide security for protesters coming out for Thursday’s protest.
Adekunle made this known during a news briefing with newsmen in Osogbo on Thursday, on the preparedness and arrangement of the corps ahead of the proposed nationwide protest.
“Amotekun is fully prepared for the protest tomorrow and we been having series of meetings with other security outfits and stakeholders to ensure the protest is peaceful.
“Our officers were part of the joint security operation that patrolled the state on the show of force operation ahead of tomorrow’s protest today (Wednesday).
“We have good working collaboration with all the other security agencies and we understand we have to work hand in hand to maintain peace in the state.” he said
He said his men had been educated and directed to maintain the highest level of professionalism during the protest, admonishing residents to maintain law and order during the protest.
Governments at all levels, traditional and religious leaders, including associations and groups have been pleading that the protest be shelved.
They agreed that while the citizens had the right to stage protests, particularly due to the economic challenges, protesters should, alternatively, consider dialoguing with relevant government heads and agencies
