The Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa has sacked the state’s executive council, including Commissioners and other government appointees in the highest decision-making arm of the government. The dissolution of the council takes immediate effect.
In a statement signed and iasued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the former members of the executive council are directed to hand over management of their respective offices, to the highest ranking civil servants.
He said: “All members of the Cabinet are to immediately hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.
“Also, all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) are relieved of their duties, with immediate effect.
“All the affected officials are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.” The statement reads
Ayedatiwa appreciated the sacked officials for making their contributions to the development of Ondo state.
Meanwhile, many political players in the state have claimed that the governor has his eyes on the next governorship election scheduled for November 16, 2024.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced that “Party primaries will hold from April 6-27, 2024 while the submission of the list of nominated candidates via the online portal will start at 9.00 am on April 29, 2024, and close at 6.00 pm on May 20, 2024.
“The final list of candidates will be published on June 18, 2024, while the campaign in public by political parties commences on June 19, 2024, and ends 24 hours prior to election day on November 14, 2024.”
Already, some big names have also signified interest in running for the office in October
