Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Lagos branch has said that it would hold its 23rd biennial conference.
This was disclosed on Thursday by its president, Dr Ibironke Sodeinde in a press conference.
Sodeinde said that MWAN, Lagos Branch was inaugurated in 1977 with the motto:” Matris Animo Currant” meaning “Healing with the Love of a Mother”.
She said it is an asectarian, non- religious and non-governmental organisation of qualified, registered female medical and dental doctors, affiliated with MWAN National, MWIA and NMA.
“Our mandate basically is to improve the health and well-being of the populace,especially women, youth and children.
“Our Association has witnessed 22 biennial with change of leadership every two years with different themes, based on the prevailing circumstances and pressing issues of concern at every particular point in time” she said.
The president said that the theme for the conference was “Investing in Health, Education and Wellbeing of Adolescents and Young adults”.
She said that the subthemes are: “Workplace Safety and Welfare of Health Professionals.
“Potentials for Al in “Dentistry and Medicine.
“Tackling Climate Change and Conserving the Environment.”
Sodeinde said that The subthemes are very apt, because they showcase diversity and inclusiveness for different age groups, different fields of Medicine as well as taking into consideration the concerns for the wellbeing of workers and the sensitivity for appropriate responsiveness to the environment.
She said that they have all passed through this milestone as Adolescents and Young adults. The youths of today are definitely the future elders and responsible leaders of tomorrow.
