Indications emerged on Wednesday that the Dean of Students Affairs at the Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Tajudeen Olumoko has been relieved of his position, following the scandal of certificates racketeering currently rocking the state-owned university.
Recall that The West Newspaper reported om Tuesday that the Lagos state house of Assembly was planning to investigate allegations of cash for grades and certificate racketeering in LASU.
Feelers from the institution indicate that a senior lecturer in the Department of Political Science, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, has been appointed as the new acting DSA.
The racketeering syndicate reportedly offers verifiable LASU certificates to willing buyers for as much as N2m-N4m each, depending on the course.
Speaking during plenary on Tuesday, Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh, Chairman House Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, suggested that the Information and Communication Technology, ICT, department of the institution should be invited to face the probe panel set up by the assembly.
He said “Investigation should not be limited to the management and the certificates of culprits should be revoked,”.
