Gov. Dapo Abiodun has distributed no fewer than 5,000 Certificates of Occupancy (CofO) and other title documents to property owners, saying necessary machinery will be put in place to ensure that the 5,000 feat is doubled by the next distribution in 2024.
The Governor, who made a symbolic presentation of the documents at the Obas’ Complex of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said his administration had brought sanity to land administration through various reforms, noting that the artificial bottlenecks created in the past by bad eggs in the land administration process have been completely removed.
Governor Abiodun, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi allayed the fears of potential applicants and assured them of a seamless process, stating that the stalled CofO inherited from previous administration had been worked on.
The Governor said, “At the outset of our administration, we were inundated with a serious crisis of stalled and stocked title documents and CofO which we find unpalatable’’.
He urged people to key into the Ogun State Land Administration and Revenue Management System (OLARMS) platform, to secure their title documents, saying the System was introduced to allow property owners regularise their legal land documents with the state government, noting that, ‘’You need not to know anybody to process your CofO in Ogun State because it is automated to reduce human interference and disruptions”.
In his welcome address, the Director-General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Arc. Segun Fowora, said the OLARMS is aimed at accelerating a seamless processing of land administration in the state, appreciating the Governor for bringing sanity to the processing of title documents while giving a sense of belonging to homeowners.
