The 2025 Lagos State Local Government Elections, commenced Saturday with voting processes unfolding smoothly across multiple local government areas (LGAs). Early reports indicate that the distribution of election materials has been on schedule, and security has been ramped up across the state.
In Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, election materials were dispatched early this morning, with ad-hoc staff swiftly moving to the 14 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) under both Amuwo-Odofin and Oriade. The process has been seamless, with no issues of delay or misplaced materials reported.
In Ikeja Local Government, election materials were also delivered to key polling units, and security personnel were seen at polling stations, ensuring a peaceful environment for voters. Police officers, coordinated by the Commissioner of Police, CP Jimoh, were deployed to maintain order throughout the election period.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has confirmed that the elections are proceeding as planned, with voting set to begin at 8:00 a.m. at over 13,000 polling units across the state.
As political parties gear up for what promises to be a closely watched election, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the front-runner, though the Labour Party (LP) has been making notable inroads in key areas. Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been relatively quiet in the build-up to the polls.
