The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has appointed Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
Hundeyin, who until now was the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, takes over from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Announcing the appointment in Abuja, IGP Egbetokun said Hundeyin was chosen to strengthen the Force’s public engagement.
“I expect him to leverage his wealth of communication and security experience to bolster the Force Public Relations Department and ensure continuous positive relations with the public,” the IGP stated.
Hundeyin holds a BA in English Language from Lagos State University and an MSc in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan. He also earned a Certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre in Jaji, Kaduna State.
He is an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), a member of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).
The new Force PRO has previously served as Police PRO at Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos; Administration Officer at the Force Public Relations Department, Abuja; and as part of Nigeria’s contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan, in 2020.
In his handover note, outgoing Force PRO, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, described Hundeyin as “a seasoned communicator whose experience will be invaluable to the Force at this time.”
