The leadership of the Arewa Community in the All Progressives Congress (APC) South West has disowned groups claiming to be the coordinators of the organisation in the region.
This followed a visit by some groups from Lagos State to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, in Abuja, where they allegedly presented themselves as coordinators of the Arewa Community APC South West.
In a statement issued on behalf of the South West Chairmen Forum, Alhaji Umaru Mohammed, Chairman of the Arewa Community APC in Ondo State, said the claims were false. He maintained that the organisation in the South West is still under the patronage of Hon. Aminu Sanni Jaji, who represents Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency in Zamfara State.
Mohammed said Jaji has supported the Arewa Community APC in the region with vehicles, branded campaign materials and financial assistance, especially during the 2023 elections. He urged party leaders and the public to disregard those parading themselves as coordinators.
The statement listed the current leadership of the Arewa Community APC South West as follows: Hon. Aminu Sanni Jaji (Founder and Patron); Alhaji Sa’adu Yusuf Dandare Gulma (Chairman, South West and Lagos State); Alhaji Sanni Kangiwa Sarduna (Vice Chairman South West and Chairman, Ondo State); Hon. Prince Hadi Sani (Secretary South West and Chairman, Ogun State); Hon. Bashir Mai Bornu (Treasurer South West and Chairman, Oyo State); Alhaji Umaru Mohammed (Spokesman South West and Chairman, Ondo State); and Hon. Bawa Hassan (Financial Secretary South West and Senior Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor).
The forum warned against attempts to create a faction within the Arewa Community APC South West and directed all enquiries to the group’s secretariat.
