It has been said that the effectiveness of Local Government administration was an indication of the performance of a State government.
Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun who disclosed this at the commissioning exercise of executed projects in Obafemi -Owode, Local Government Area of the State noted that the grassroot was where the true assessment of a government lied, hence the need for a people-oriented governance.
Abiodun represented by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, while congratulating the benefitting communities charged them to take responsibility for the facilities and remain committed in their support for the Abiodun-led administration. “It is with great pleasure that I commission these projects. These are promises kept, and I charge the people to show gratitude by maintaining these facilities and support the government at all times”, he said.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman, Obafemi -Owode Local Government Area, Hon. Ogunsola Adesina noted that the essence of governance was to meet the needs of the people, saying the commissioning exercise was a demonstration of this mandate.
The first point of call for the commissioning was Derupatan Village, Ajebo Ward where a motorized borehole facility was commissioned. The team then proceeded to Ofada Ward to commission the newly built Magboro Shopping Mall.
School infrastructure also came as part of the package as two blocks of 10 classrooms , office and store at Maba town in Ofada ward, were equally commissioned to address the yearnings of the people. The exercise was rounded up at Obafemi Owode Local Government Secretariat where a 60-meter, Ogidan Secretariat Road, as well as the renovated Legislative Chamber and departments in the Secretariat were commissioned for use.
Two members of the communities, Adeyemi Seyi and Sola Obafemi, appreciated the government for the good work done, saying they remain grateful, as they await more dividends of good governance.
