
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has officially installed Oba Isaac Adegbenro Oyero as the new Ooye of Iwoye Ketu, following the passing of the former monarch, Oba Ademola Aremu Alaye. The ceremony took place in the Imeko Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Representing the governor, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, urged the sons and daughters of Iwoye Ketu to collaborate harmoniously in pursuit of sustainable development, emphasizing that the selection of the new monarch adhered to strict guidelines, ensuring a transparent and respectful process.
“The appointment of Oba Isaac Adegbenro Oyero was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of the Ooye of Iwoye-Ketu Chieftaincy, registered on March 22, 1961, as well as the customs and traditions of Iwoye-Ketu and the Obas and Chiefs Law of Ogun State, 2021.”, he said
Hon. Hamzat further highlighted that the new Ooye of Iwoye-Ketu is a Part II Oba and a member of the Yewa Traditional Council, positioning him as a key custodian of the customs and traditions of Yewaland.
Earlier in his address, Chairman of the Imeko Afon Local Government Area, Hon. Theophilus Oloyede, congratulated the community on this achievement. He called upon all stakeholders to rally around the new Oba , assuring them of his commitment to fostering meaningful development within the kingdom.
In his message, the Olu Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, represented by the Onimeko of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Olanite, urged the people of Iwoye-Ketu to extend their utmost respect, support, and cooperation to the newly appointed Kabiyesi. He emphasized the importance of collective effort in elevating Iwoye-Ketu to new heights and offered prayers for a successful reign in Iwoye-Ketu kingdom.
During his acceptance speech, Oba Oyero expressed his gratitude to the Abiodun-led administration and to Oba Olugbenle for his influence. He assured the community that his reign would not fall short of their expectations.
The installation ceremony was well-attended, featuring notable guests such as Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, Commissioner for Sports Development, and Hon. Jemili Akingbade, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly. The event also drew the presence of royal fathers, religious leaders, and numerous indigenes and residents of the Iwoye-Ketu kingdom, all coming together to celebrate the occasion.
