A faction of the Labour Party under the headship of Alhaji Lamidi Apapa on Friday described the inauguration of Caretaker Committee of the Party by the Board of Trustee of the Party as illegal, Unconstitutional and of no effect, warning Nigeria Labour Congress to desist from the illegal act capable of setting Nigeria under Fire.
A statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the faction, Dr Abayomi Arabambi scolded Julius Abure for summoning such a convention without a wide consultation of all stakeholders.
The statement calls on the party to “put a stop to the continued meddling in the internal affairs of our party” by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) while calling on the Union to immediately vacate the LP national Secretariat “…as Joe Ajaero does not have monopoly of violence”
“Labour party takes curious notes of Former Presidential candidate of Labour party Mr Peter Obi side comment on why he ignored the convention conducted by his suppose right hand Man Bar Julius Abure who led his campaign train to the 36 states of the federation on the premise that Julius.
“Mr Peter Obi’s mischievous life time ambition to fraudulently defraud the Labour party has now been confirmed by his irritating statement where he emphasised with his Ethnic Cleansing agenda, the need for the right thing to be done to salvage the party by handing it over to IGBOS because according to him he is more passionate about building a new Nigeria than building a new Labour party.” Arabambi said
While quoting in section 77 sub (1) of the electoral act 2022, the Publicity Secretary observed that “it is expressly clear that nobody owns a corporate body . Therefore once the NLC registered a political party like LP, it has become a limited liability companies that has a life of its own”
He said the Labour Party is this a corporate entity with its own laws and norms which is been guided by the Independent National Electorial Commission and not the NLC . “There is no where in the Constitution or Electoral act that empowers the NLC to administer Labour party”
Arabambi said the occupation of Labour Party Secretariat and the purported inauguration BoT of Labour Party under Ajaero is a planned political insurrection against democracy, inordinate and expansionist agenda of Joe Ajaero towards his 2027 presidential ambition.
He added that “Joe Ajaero as an NLC President is not a financial member of Labour party, hence, the Coup detat orchestrated by him against the Party Leadership through the appointment of a KANGAROO BOT of NLC should is here by dismissed and discountenance with immediately.
“The function of the BOT does not include declaring the seat of the National Chairman and members of the NWC vacant as such constitute impunity, gross indiscipline , manifest incompetence and political Rascality” he said
