The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has installed Oba Olayiwola Sodipo, as the new Olu of Oke-Aro kingdom, Oke-Aro community in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, after the demise of his predecessor, Oba Ezekiel Soyinka, in year 2021.
Governor Abiodun, represented by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, congratulated Oba Sodipo, urging the new Monarch to live up to his responsibilities as father for all and also contribute his quota towards the growth and development of the Oke-Aro kingdom.
“Your appointment as the new Olu of Oke-Aro, designates you as a Part II Oba and a member of the Egba Traditional Council. As a royal father, it is essential that you remain accessible, receptive, and responsive to the aspirations of your people,” he stated.
Abiodun also encouraged Oba Sodipo to mobilise the community to fulfill their civic duties and to discourage land-grabbing practices, emphasising that legal measures were in place to address such offenses.
In his remarks, Chairman of Ifo Local Government Area, Hon. Idris Kushimo, congratulated sons and daughters of Oke-Aro, urging them to unite and support their new king. He underscored the importance of collaboration and cooperation as platforms of elevating community to greater heights.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Sodipo appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun’s -led administration as well as the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, for making the day a reality. He assured the community of his commitment to fulfilling his mandate for the betterment of both his people and the entire kingdom.
