Sen. Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun, says Ilaro is becoming a “small London” through infrastructure development.
Adeola made the declaration at a programme organised by Ilaro Parapo for Yayi, themed “Unity, Development and Political Future of Ilaro District”.
The event attracted thousands of indigenes from Ilaro District in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun.
Adeola said projects he facilitated in roads, healthcare, education, security and electricity had significantly transformed the town.
“I promised to turn Ilaro and its environs into a ‘small London’, and I have worked seriously towards achieving this through infrastructure development,” he said.
He added that he facilitated the upgrade of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro, through legislation.
The senator urged residents to vote for him and other APC candidates, describing their votes as investments in their future and continued development.
He said he expected more than 60,000 votes from Ilaro District in the 2027 governorship election.
Earlier, Omoba Segun Adewale (OSA), in his welcome address, described Adeola as a bona fide indigene of Ilaro.
Adewale said the community was determined to deliver all votes from the 80,000 registered voters who had collected their Permanent Voter Cards.
He attributed the planned support to Adeola’s development projects and efforts to end what he described as 50 years of political injustice against Ogun West.
“Voting for Senator Adeola Yayi is not only about projects and development in Ilaro and Ogun West, but also for the entire state, as he has started work in other senatorial districts,” he said.
Three academics from Ilaro, Prof. Tope Popoola, Prof. Taiwo Edun and Dr. Mukhail Akinde, presented papers on the theme and called for unity and massive support for Adeola.
Dignitaries at the event included Dr. Kunle Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Services; Hon. Muftau Ajibola, a Third Republic legislator; and Hon. Lateefat Ajayi, Deputy Speaker of the Ogun House of Assembly.
Others were Engr. Tommy Akintomide, Chief Mrs. Iyabo Apampa and Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele, APC senatorial candidate for Ogun West.
