Encomiums have continued to pour in for the Oyo state Commissioner for Toursim and Culture, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun who clocked 60 on thursday. The state government through its verified X (formerly twitter) handle took time out to celebrate the academic turned politician.
“We wish Dr Wasiu Olatubosun a very happy birthday and many happy returns. May God continue to bless and keep you, Sir. Have a fantastic day!” the state government said.
On its part, the state ministry of culture and tourism in their celebratory message, prayed for Dr Olatunbosun. “Our indefatigable Honourable Commissioner is a year older today. Happy birthday, Sir. May God bless you today and always!”
In equal veins, the management of Full Media Services Nigeria Limited, the publishers of SouthWest-centric newspaper, The West, commended the commissioner for his commitment to the promotion of the cutural heritage of the Yoruba people. In a letter signed by the Lead Editor, Prince Oba Adeoye, TheWest newspaper advised Dr Olatunbosun to continue being an icon of quality public service with a human face.
The letter reads in part, “Your unwavering commitment to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Oyo State has not only earned you respect but has also left an indelible mark on the hearts of those you serve. For those of us at TheWest Newspaper, we have had the privilege of closely monitoring your tireless efforts in fostering a thriving cultural environment and promoting tourism, making Oyo State a destination of choice.
“Your leadership has been characterized by vision, passion, and a genuine concern for the welfare of the people. Under your guidance, the tourism and culture sector in Oyo State has experienced unprecedented growth, showcasing the beauty and diversity of our heritage to the world.”
Wasiu Adewale Ajani Olatubosun, PhD also known as “Omo Iya Alagbo”, was born on January 11,1964, to the family of late Alhaji Rauf Olatunbosun of Ibikunle Dynasty Ayeye, Ibadan, Oyo State.
He was educated at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo, University of Ibadan where he bagged a bachelors degree in Education/Language Arts and a Masters of Art (M.A) in Communication and Language Arts. He earned a Masters of Science (MSc) degree from the the University of Lagos, Akoka. and later, a PhD in in Mass Communication, at Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.
Dr Olatunbosun was a University Lecturer before he accepted the responsibility of serving the good people of Oyo State in various political capacities including as Former Chaiman of Ibadan North West Local Government among others.
Before his redeployment to the Oyo State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Dr Olatubosun served meritoriously as the state’s Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism between 2019 and 2023.
His 60th birthday will definitely be another watershed in his journey of service to humanity.
