The police command in Ogun has confirmed the murder of a young man who was shot dead by gunmen who were on motorcycles at Ewusi street, towards Ita Oba roundabout
SP Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) , disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Saturday.
Odutola explained that the incident happened on Friday.
The PPRO noted that the Sagamu Divisional Police Officer, while on vehicular patrol along Ewusi street received information about a shooting incident.
” The report stated that a group of unidentified gunmen on motorcycles shot and killed a young man whose identity is currently unknown.
“Upon receiving the information, the DPO immediately proceeded towards the location of the gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered the deceased lying in a pool of blood.
” The examination of the body revealed bullet wounds on the neck, stomach and hand. Additionally, three expended cartridges were found at the scene,” she said.
Odutola said that the body of the deceased had been deposited to a nearby morgue.
” No identification documents were found on the deceased, except for two large cowries,” she said.
The PPRO noted that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, had called for proper investigation into the killing.
She added that the police was committed to ensuring that ” Justice is served in this case and to allay fears of residents “.
