The Ondo state Police Command has confirmed the murder of Alaba Excel Abbey, a campaign coordinator for the re-election bid of the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Abbey was reportedly killed by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen in his hometown, Supare Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.
The police said investigation is already underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing as well as the killers.
Police Public Relations Officer for the Ondo state command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya said: “The state command is aware of the incident (killing) but the investigation is ongoing to unravel all that happened.”
Rhe deceased was a ward coordinator for the Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot-Soldiers.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Aiyedatiwa campaign organization, David Ajobiewe, had called on the police to get to the root of the matter. He said Abbey was never a violent person.
Ajobiewe said, “Excel had been a resourceful coordinator for the Aiyedatiwa campaign organisation in Ward 10 of Supare and was never known to be violent and never had any history of a local or domestic dispute.
“We urge the police authorities to step up investigations into his gruesome murder and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.” He challenged the police
