The Ondo State Government has reasserted its dedication to fostering the esteemed Omoluabi values that characterize the state’s populace, highlighting respect, diligence, reverence for life, and a firm opposition to social ills such as cultism, thuggery, and civil disturbances.
In a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Emmanuel Ajanaku, the administration of Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa was depicted as having zero tolerance for criminal activities that could tarnish the state’s image or impede its progress.
Hon. Ajanaku emphasized that Omoluabi values, deeply rooted in Yoruba tradition, are the foundation of a peaceful and progressive society. He urged traditional rulers, politicians, student leaders, market women, religious leaders, and the general public to collaborate with the government in rejecting cultism, political violence, kidnapping, and other destabilizing behaviors.
“The increase in social vices is alarming and unacceptable. As a people renowned for dignity, discipline, and hard work, we must all stand together to protect our values. Ondo State cannot afford to be mired in lawlessness,” Ajanaku stated.
He cautioned that development and investor confidence cannot flourish in an environment of insecurity and called on citizens to view the fight against crime as a shared responsibility.
“The time for action is now. Every citizen has a part to play in upholding ethical behavior. Report crimes in your communities. Be ambassadors of peace and order. This is the path to creating a safe, attractive, and economically vibrant Ondo State,” he added.
The commissioner also revealed plans by the Ministry of Information and Orientation to launch intensified civic education campaigns across the state’s 18 local government areas, leveraging community influencers, local media, and digital platforms to reinforce these values.
As Ondo State advances towards sustainable growth under the OUR EASE (ODATIWA) Agenda, the government maintains that moral discipline and community vigilance are crucial in building a state of pride, peace, and prosperity.
