A native of Isikwuato Local Government Area, Nnamdi Oleh has made strong accusations against former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah, alleging that he is behind a coordinated media effort to tarnish the reputation of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who currently represents Abia North Senatorial District.
Addressing journalists over the weekend, Oleh alleged that Dr. Ogah has been financing bloggers and various online media platforms to diminish the significant achievements Senator Kalu has recorded since his return to the Senate in 2023.
“Dr. Uche Ogah has never been pleased with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu since he emerged as the Senator representing Abia North. It is public knowledge in Isikwuato and across Abia North that he has been sponsoring bloggers to criticize and undermine every project that Senator Kalu has attracted to our region. Instead of supporting the development initiatives in Abia North, Ogah has been relentlessly working to sabotage Kalu’s laudable efforts,” Oleh declared.
He further suggested that Ogah’s hostility toward Kalu is deeply rooted in resentment over Kalu’s political victories, and that Ogah had aligned himself with opposition elements to derail Kalu’s progress.
“During the 2023 general elections, Dr. Ogah actively opposed Senator Kalu. He collaborated with the Labour Party (LP) to prevent Kalu’s return to the Senate. Not only that, he also worked against President Bola Tinubu’s mandate and manipulated voting outcomes in his home community of Uturu against the APC.
“He did the same against Barrister Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, who today serves as the Minister of State for Labour. All of this happened despite the fact that they were supposed to belong to the same political family — the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Oleh stated.
Oleh lamented what he described as the disappointing silence of influential figures from Isikwuato, whom he believes are aware of Ogah’s alleged actions but have chosen not to intervene or speak up.
“In Isikwuato, we have respected leaders like Dr. Damian Igbokwe and Mr. Royal who know very well what Dr. Ogah is doing, yet they have remained silent. It is unfair — unfair to Senator Kalu, who is doing everything within his power to ensure that our roads are rehabilitated, our infrastructure is upgraded, and that genuine development reaches our people,” he emphasized.
Drawing a comparison between Kalu’s achievements and Ogah’s tenure, Oleh remarked, “It is regrettable that during his time as Minister under President Muhammadu Buhari, Dr. Ogah could not attract a single meaningful project to Abia North, not even to his own Isikwuato.
“He was given the platform to serve, but instead of bringing development, he chose to engage in needless battles against notable leaders from our area. Ironically, the same man is now sponsoring media attacks against someone who is genuinely working for the people. Senator Kalu attracted all the road projects in Uturu and he continues to do even more. If that is not genuine leadership, then what is?”
Oleh concluded by urging the people of Isikwuato and the entire Abia North Senatorial District to ignore what he termed “sponsored propaganda” and to continue to rally behind Senator Kalu.
“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has shown outstanding leadership and a sincere commitment to the welfare of our people. His track record in road construction, health interventions, and youth empowerment is visible for all to see. We must not allow political resentment and personal vendettas to derail the progress that we are experiencing under his stewardship,” he said.
