The Ogun Government has begun training of Cash Transfer Facilitators (CTF) across the 20 Local Government Areas ahead of the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer (RH-CCT) disbursement to the vulnerable in the state.
The training, which began on Friday in Abeokuta saw facilitators from all council areas gathered to receive the prerequisite knowledge and skills needed in the field for the disbursement of the RH-CCT.
The Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mrs Funmilayo Efuwape, disclosed that the training was coming ahead of the disbursement of RH-CCT to the most vulnerable in the state.
Efuwape, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Lateef Benson , said that the training was meant to equip the facilitators with the requisite knowledge and skill.
The commissioner added that the training would enable the facilitators sensitise the communities and beneficiaries for the enrolment of the poor and vulnerable households into the RH-CCT programme.
She appreciated President Bola Tinubu for the initiative, saying that it was different from the previous CCT programme, which only covered six LGAs out of the 20 in the state.
“Before now, we used to have an epileptic cash transfer to the beneficiaries, and only six LGAs were covered but with President Tinubu, the programme is now scaled up to all the 20 LGAs across the state.
“I am so delighted because this programme is aimed at alleviating poverty, touching the vulnerable and also poorest of the poor,” she said.
Efuwape urged the facilitators to equip themselves with good communication skills to help them interact professionally with the beneficiaries to avoid hitches in the process.
Also speaking, the state’s Programme Manager, Mrs Funmi Baker, disclosed that over 90,000 households would benefit from the ongoing enrolment across the 20 LGAs in the state.
Bakers warned the facilitators against sharp practices, including extorting money from the beneficiaries before enroling them in the programme, vowing that anybody caught in the act would face severe sanctions.
She disclosed that each beneficiary would receive N25,000 naira per cycle, urging the beneficiaries to utilise the money to make a significant impact on their lives.
Earlier , the National Enrolment Officer, Muhammad Adam, noted that the essence of the programme was to train facilitators on the process of potential beneficiaries’ enrolment of the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer.
He said that the training would also encourage beneficiaries who did not have valid bank accounts to open an account for easy access to the disbursement.
