Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, will feature as a Speaker at the 9th edition of the Voice of Women Conference and Awards (VOW2025), taking place on Thursday, November 2, 2025, at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.
This year’s conference, themed “Nigerian Women and the Power of Collective Action,” is organized by the Voice of Women Empowerment Foundation and aims to amplify the voices of grassroots women while advancing advocacy for the passage of the Special Seats for Women Bill. The event according to a news release signed by the Commissioner will serve as a national platform for transforming women’s collective strength into tangible impact on governance and representation.
“Hon. Adeleye will be speaking in a Fireside Chat session titled “Breaking Barriers through the Power of Community,” alongside Barrister Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment. The session will focus on the importance of solidarity, grassroots mobilization, and collaborative advocacy as tools to dismantle systemic barriers facing Nigerian women”.
“The conference will host over 500 participants, including Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, former UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women; Her Excellency, Gill Lever, Deputy British High Commissioner to Nigeria; Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Honourable Minister of Women Affairs; Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi; and other policymakers, civil society leaders, and private sector stakeholders”.
“Findings from the Women Radio National Grassroots Survey will also be unveiled at the event. The survey revealed that although eight in ten grassroots women in Nigeria hold Permanent Voter Cards, their choices at the polls are largely influenced by men, highlighting the urgent need for collective women-driven advocacy to ensure inclusive democracy”, the statement concluded.
