Obas’ Retreat: Gov. Abiodun Charges Monarch to Build Capacity

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has charged Obas to continually explore forums that add to their stool and equip them for a successful reign.This was said at the opening ceremony of the 5-day, Obas’ Retreat organized by Remo Traditional Council for its Obas, held in Sagamu.The Governor represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, appreciated the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Ajayi for the initiative. He implored participants to be actively involved in the sessions, as well as cross-fertilize ideas through out the period of the retreat. “This opportunity in my opinion would widen our Kabiyesis horizons in the direction of their traditional callings and responsibilities, giving meaning to the overall wellbeing and subsistence of their people”, he said.Earlier in his welcome address, Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo land Oba (Dr) Babatunde Ajajyi underscored the importance of the Retreat themed; “Strengthening the Crown, Building the Nation”, emphasizing the need for the Obas to continually demonstrate capacity in all ramifications. He added that initiatives like this, in the final analysis would impact the style of leadership demonstrated in their territories for the betterment of their people.Speaking on behalf of participants, the Elepe of Epe-Sagamu, Oba Adewale Osiberu appreciated the leadership of Remo Traditional Council for the initiative, saying the retreat was an avenue to socialize, increase their knowledge, and smoothen out rough edges as far as Obas’ affairs were concerned.
