Just three days to the start of the 2024 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), football loving Nigerians now have something to cheer about as the Nigerian Television Authority announced plans to transmit all the matches of the continental showdown taking place in Cote d’Ivoire.
The government-owned TV network published on its official X handle (formerly twitter) that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Afro Sports to transmit all the matches to millions of Nigerians who will be interested in monitoring their Super Eagles performance at the AFCON.
The popular TV network tweeted, “NTA signs Memorandum of Understanding with Afro Sports for transmission of 52 matches of Africa Cup Of Nations in Cote D’ivoire.”
The AFCON is the main international men’s football competition on the African continent. It started in 1957.
Since 1968, it has been held every two years, switching to odd-numbered years in 2013 and returned to even-numbered years in 2022.
The Nigerian Super Eagles will be playing in group A alongside host Ivory Coat, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau
