The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Osun State on Wednesday, said it has arrested a commercial driver and one other for being in possession of Cannabis Sativa and Cocaine.
In a statement by the state NDLEA Commander, Nnadi Chidi, said the suspects were arrested on Monday by NDLEA officers patrolling the Ode-Omu/Osogbo Express road.
“A team of operatives led by Falore Ayoola, during motorised patrol along Ode-Omu/Osogbo Road intercepted a commercial Ash colored Toyota Avensis Wagon car with Reg No SMK 131 CX and recovered a consignment containing 9 block-like wraps of cannabis sativa which weighed 4.7 kg.
“The driver of the vehicle, Kazeem Alamu, 40, claimed it was a waybill meant to be delivered to someone in Osogbo.
“Further search of his vehicle, however, led to the recovery of another consignment containing another 26.5gms of cannabis sativa and 6.5gms of cocaine.
“A follow-up operation was initiated and it led to the arrest of one Adeyemi Saheed, 33, who came with an unregistered gold colored Toyota Corolla to collect the consignments containing the 26.5gms of cannabis and 6.5gms of cocaine.
“The Search on the Toyota Corolla brought by Saheed led to the recovery of 1.5gms of cocaine.” Chidi said.
The commander said the suspects will be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
He also commended the efforts of his officers and warned drug dealers/couriers to relocate from Osun State or get arrested and prosecuted .
