The Lagos West Solidarity Forum has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) for their intervention in the leadership crisis at the Lagos State House of Assembly, which led to the reinstatement of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker.
In a statement signed by its convener, Chief Kunle Familola (KOB), the group expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his role in restoring peace to Lagos, describing his intervention as an act of statesmanship that upheld stability in the state’s political landscape.
“We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for heeding the voice of reason and restoring hope in Lagos State,” the statement read.
The group also praised Governor Sanwo-Olu and the GAC for their efforts in resolving the internal wrangling within the Assembly, which had led to Obasa’s impeachment.
“Their impact in resolving the issue is well appreciated. They played a critical role in ensuring peace and unity, and we commend them for their leadership,” Familola stated.
With Obasa now reinstated, the Lagos West Solidarity Forum called for unity among all political actors, emphasizing the importance of cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly President Tinubu’s anticipated reelection bid.
“It is necessary for all conflicting parties to sheathe their swords, unite as one family, and restrategize ahead of the 2027 election, most importantly the presidential election, where President Tinubu will be seeking reelection,” the statement added.
The group further stressed Obasa’s significance in the political structure supporting Tinubu, insisting that a stable House of Assembly was crucial for the success of the ruling party.
“Undoubtedly, Obasa remains a pivotal figure in President Tinubu’s reelection bid, highlighting the need for the ‘House’ to be in order for the success of all,” the statement concluded.
