The Lagos State government has honoured 16-year-old Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, who set a Guinness World Record as the youngest person to cycle 100 miles.
Kanyeyachukwu, who has autism, received the accolade at the State House, Marina, Lagos, on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended Kanyeyachukwu for overcoming his disability to achieve the feat, noting that his resilience and determination are worthy of emulation.
The governor presented a donation of N100 million to the Kanyeyachukwu Foundation and another N100 million to the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs.
” I want to commend Kanyeyachukwu for bringing glory to the country. Kudos must also go to his parents and grandfather here present for their support which enabled him achieve his second Guinness World Record feat
” By this time last year, a young Nigerians did something the world could not ignore; by having the largest paintings on a canvas which earned him Guinness World Record and this year, he added another feather to his cap and he deserves the commendation of all Nigerians”, said the governor.
Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, praised Kanyeyachukwu’s courage and determination, while General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde Lawal, expressed appreciation to the governor for his support.
Kanyeyachukwu’s father, Tagbo Okeke, thanked the Lagos State government and other state governors who supported his son’s cycling journey.
