The leadership of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu 2027 (GMT) has said with the appointment of the ex-Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd), the escalating insecurity in Nigeria would become a thing of the past.
Speaking at the special inter-faith prayer session for President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria, on Thursday in Ikeja, the Director General of GMT, Hon. Bisi Yusuff, suggested that the worsen insecurity was a plot to distract the President, saying that no amount of distraction would hinder the President from success.
On the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, Yusuff stated that Christians and Muslims are united and live in harmony, stating that there was no genocide in the country.
“President Tinubu has achieved alot and we have to let people know this. In Nigeria, there is nothing like christian genocide. Christians and Muslims are one and indivisible Nigerians who live peacefully, Because we are Lagosians, we must demonstrate it and we know other states will copy us. We want to show the world that we are one united Nigerians.
“That’s why you see both the christian clerics and Muslim Imams here with us. We eat together and speak with one voice, we say no to bandits”, said Yusuff.
In his remarks, the Lagos Ambassador for Renewed Hope Agenda and Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mr Tayo Ayinde, corroborated Yusuff, backing the appointment of Gen. Christopher Musa as Defence Minister.
Ayinde added that both Christians and Muslims inter-marry and celebrate festivities together as one, adding that the two faiths had been peacefully co-existing for years.
He urged the citizens to continue to support President Bola Tinubu, saying that the prayer session was to show to the international community that there is religious unity in Nigeria.
“In Nigeria, Christians and Muslims are one family. We are inter-marry, we celebrate Christmas together and also Sallah. We are also happy with President Tinubu that he is not resting on his oars. He has deemed it fit to appoint former CDS, Gen. Christopher Musa as Defence Minister. For us, it is right peg in the right hole.
“We believe with his huge experience in security, he would collaborate with the security chiefs. We believe very soon, Nigerians will begin to see the impact of his appointment”, said Ayinde.
Also, a Chieftain of the All Progresses Congress (APC) in Lagos and member of the Governnance Advisory Council (GAC), Cardinal James Odumbaku (Baba Eto), said that the inter-faith prayer was the second one in the state, stating that Nigeria is an indivisible entity.
Odumbaku expressed confidence that Tinubu would be re-elected in 2027, stating that ” We are going to vote for Tinubu in 2027. Tinubu will be on top”.
Meanwhile, special prayers were offered in both Christian and Muslim ways as clerics took turn to prayer for President Tinubu and Nigeria.
