The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has charged the party’s newly inaugurated executive members to prioritize unity and shun divisive tendencies as the party sets its sights on the 2027 general elections.
Ojelabi delivered the charge on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony for the new State Executive Committee, held at the party’s secretariat in Ikeja.
Addressing the newly elected leaders, the chairman urged them to carry out their responsibilities with diligence, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to the party’s core ideals.
“We found you worthy to be elected to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years,” Ojelabi told the gathering. “Your role is critical to the growth and consolidation of our great party.”
He underscored that the party’s enduring success in Lagos has been largely driven by its robust grassroots network. He encouraged the new executives to sustain this tradition by working tirelessly to strengthen the party’s presence across all wards and local government areas.
“The responsibility before you is enormous,” Ojelabi added. “You must be diligent in the discharge of your duties and remain committed to the ideals of the party.”
Emphasising the importance of internal cohesion, Ojelabi called on all leaders and stakeholders to refrain from actions that could sow discord within the party. He noted that having emerged through a democratic process, the executives must now work collectively to consolidate the achievements the APC has recorded in the state over the years.
“You are assuming office at a critical period,” he stated, stressing that their leadership would be vital in building on the party’s past successes. He further directed them to collaborate closely with local government party leadership and intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts in preparation for future elections.
In a solemn moment during the ceremony, Nike Coker administered the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office to the 37-member State Executive Committee. The inauguration was, however, overshadowed by the absence of the newly re-elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro, who passed away hours after his victory at the polls.
