Femi Olaniyi, popularly known as Ferrari, has been elected as the Chairman of all Nigerian state chairmen in the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He was appointed the Chairman by the body of Chairmen within the SDP, marking a significant moment for the party as it seeks to strengthen its internal cohesion and national presence.
In his acceptance speech, Olaniyi expressed deep gratitude for the trust placed in him and outlined his vision for unity and progress within the party.
“I am truly humbled and honoured to be given the privilege of serving again as your Chairman of Chairmen (COC),” Olaniyi said. “This is a critical moment in the history of our party, and we are at a pivotal time that requires our collective efforts to thrive. It is essential that we work together to shape the future of our party.”
Olaniyi acknowledged the challenges facing the party, particularly the lack of cohesion among members, and pledged to address these issues head-on.
“As your chairman, I accept this responsibility with deep gratitude. However, I recognize the lack of cohesion among us and promise to form credible forum executives. My first task will be to foster confidence and ensure that we treat one another with dignity and respect,” he stated.
He also commended the efforts of the party’s national leadership, urging members to show unwavering loyalty and support. “We should express our appreciation for the cooperation we have received from our dedicated national chairman and the rest of the National Working Committee. It is vital that we do not take their efforts for granted,” Olaniyi emphasized.
Specifically, he praised the national chairman for his leadership, saying, “We must specifically commend our national chairman for his tenacity, focus, and determination to enhance our global image. He deserves our recognition for his exceptional work, and we are proud of him.”
Olaniyi extended his gratitude to his predecessors and colleagues for their contributions to the party’s stability and growth. “At this point, I would like to extend my gratitude to our immediate past COC for his maturity during the transition. I also want to thank the immediate past acting COC, Chairman of Oyo, for his wisdom throughout this process,” he said.
He also singled out Hon. Dogara for his commitment to unity within the party. “My special appreciation goes to Hon. Dogara for always believing in the oneness and unity of this able forum; I cannot express how much that means to me,” Olaniyi added.
Concluding his speech, Olaniyi reiterated his commitment to serving the party and its members. “I remain your humble servant. God bless you all,” he said.
