FCE Abeokuta Provost seeks support for FG in fixing Nigeria
The Provost of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Dr. Rafiu Soyele, has urged Nigerians to join hands with the government in fixing the country.
He emphasised that the task of nation-building could not be left in the hands of the government alone.
Soyele spoke on Monday while addressing newsmen during inspection of a road maintenance exercise carried out by the institution outside the school premises.
According to the provost, the initiative aimed to repair a deplorable section of the Osiele road along the Abeokuta-Ibadan highway.
He noted that the section had became a challenge for motorists, especially during the rainy season.
In a demonstration of his commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s efforts, Soyele led the road maintenance project as a palliative measure to ease the burden on road users, including staff and students of the College.
“As a federal institution situated on a trunk federal road, it becomes imperative to undertake palliative measures to improve the road and facilitate smooth passage for users,” he stated.
The road maintenance project drew praises from motorists, traders, and residents of Osiele, who lamented the road’s deplorable state and commended the Provost and the College Management for their kindness.
They emphasised the need for regular maintenance of major roads.
The exercise was supervised with the assistance of Officers from the Mission for Peace and Rescue Chaplain Corps Nigeria, Policemen from the Odeda Division, and security personnel from the College.
