BUA has dismissed reports claiming that its 200,000 barrels per day refinery in Akwa Ibom is 90% complete, urging the public to disregard the “misleading” information.
In a statement issued by the company, BUA clarified that while construction on the refinery is progressing well, it is not at 90% completion as some reports had suggested. The company emphasized that it is on track to meet its planned delivery timeline.
“While the refinery is not at 90% completion, we are however on track to meet our delivery timelines in collaboration with our partners,” BUA said. “This BUA Refinery & Petrochemicals project represents a major milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s refining capacity and energy security.”
BUA also highlighted its ongoing energy projects, including the construction of a mini-LNG plant and multiple hybrid power plants. These projects aim to add to the company’s existing over 1,000MW installed captive power generation capacity.
The company urged the public to seek information from its official channels to avoid being misled. “We remain committed to transparency and excellence,” BUA affirmed, pointing to its history of delivering over 12 mega industrial projects worth more than $3.5 billion in the past decade.
BUA also expressed appreciation for the public’s interest in the refinery project, noting that they would continue to provide accurate updates as milestones are achieved.
