Asisat Oshoala, six-time African Player of the Year, has announced her retirement from the Super Falcons at the age of 30.
The former Barcelona Femeni forward made the announcement on Facebook, revealing that she would step away from international football after the 2024/25 WAFCON to make way for younger talent.
“At 30, with six African Women’s Best Player awards, it’s time for me to bow out and begin a new chapter,” she shared. “Thank you for the love and support along the way. I’m forever grateful.”
Oshoala, who has claimed a record six CAF Women’s Player of the Year titles (2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2023), leaves behind a legacy as the most decorated player in African women’s football history. Her exceptional goal-scoring ability, relentless determination, and global influence have inspired many young athletes across Africa.
