Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu, the Medical Director, Federal Medical Center (FMC), Abeokuta has hailed President Bola Tinubu’s massive investment in the Health sector.
Musa-Olomu spoke in Abeokuta on Thursday at a news conference where he presented his score card after eight years in office
The medical director would bow out of office on May 31.
The medical director explained that the President cherished the health of the citizens and had done a lot to improve the sector since assumption of office.
He disclosed that the President specifically directed members of the National Assembly not to remove from the budget of the health tertiary institutions during the budget preparation.
He added that the health institution believed in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President and would continue to pursue it
” I want to commend President Bola Tinubu . The renewed Hope Agenda is superb , excellent , he has invested so much in the health sector.
” He specifically directed the legislators when they are preparing the budget that no kobo should be removed from the budget of the health tertiary institutions in the country and they obeyed the president .
” He also gave the legislators the freedom to bring there constituency projects to tertiary health institutions and this has really helped us in putting more infrastructure in place,” he said.
He appreciated former President Muhammadu Buhari for the approval given to FMC to operate a University.
” We appreciate him for the approval given to our university to exist and also commended President Bola Tinubu for seeing to the take off.
” We really believed in the renewed Hope Agenda of the President and we will continue to pursue it ; Appreciated the Gov . Dapo Abiodun for peaceful environment ,” he said.
Responding to questions on shortage of doctors in health facilities, he noted that the present administration was doing its best to ensure that the ratio of a doctor to patients was encouraging.
Musa-Olomu, however, stated that the best solution to the problem remained improved incentives for medical doctors.
He stated that it would reduce the rate at which the doctors left the country for better incentives.
Reeling out some of his achievements, he explained that the hospital performed more than 40 per cent of Open Heart Surgeries in Nigeria.
