The management of Jigin-Mbi Royal Foundation on Sunday call on Nigerian leaders to embrace a compassionate and purposeful leadership, saying that the country at this critical time requires selfless leadership to come out of its myriad of socioeconomic challenges.
The executive chairman on behalf of the board of the foundation, Dr Emanuel Kalejaiye, in a statement, made this call while rejoicing with the Christians in the country as they celebrate this year’s Easter which the marked the end of 40-days Lenten period as well as the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ
Kalejaiye disclosed that Jesus Christ emphasized sacrificial and compassionate leadership and that was why he offered to die on the cross to pave way for the salvation of mankind.
He said that “As we joyfully mark this Easter celebration, we must take into cognizance the salient lessons of selflessness, empathy, love, compassion as demonstrated by Jesus Christ for his followers, the Christians.
“Leaders across the political divide in Nigeria must prioritise selflessness, love, accountability and be compassionate towards the people being led.
“They must like never before let the people’s welfare and well-being be uppermost in their activities. The onus to change the narrative and build a more secured and prosperous nation for all has not been more urgent than now”.
Kalejaiye while celebrating the Easter with Nigerians also urged them to equally be alive to their civic responsibilities and cooperate with the government at all levels to take the nation to higher heights.
