If you’re a subscriber of globacom telecoms, this piece of news is for you. Soon, your line may not be allowed to connect to an MTN line. This is due to globacom’s failure to pay interconnect charges, usually paid by telecoms companies.
The Nigerian Communications Commission on Monday announced that it has granted approval for the partial disconnection of Globacom network from MTN for the refusal of the former to observe standard industry practice.
Speaking via a notice released to Journalists in Lagos, NCC’s Director, Public Affairs Department, Reuben Muoka said, “Globacom was notified of the application made by MTN and was given the opportunity to comment and state its case.
“The commission, having examined the application and circumstances surrounding the indebtedness, determined that Globacom does not have sufficient or justifiable reason for non-payment of the interconnect charges.”
NCC added that, upon the expiration of 10 days , from the date the notice was made public, “subscribers of Globacom will no longer be able to make calls to MTN but will be able to receive calls”.
It said, “The partial disconnection, however, will allow in-bound calls to the Globacom network.”
