Sen. Solomon Adeola (APC-Ogun West), the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun, has facilitated 60 boreholes across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Adeola, in a statement in Abeokuta on Friday by his Media Adviser, Kayode Odunaro, said the projects were initiated in response to communal requests and prioritised based on needs and technical feasibility.
He said the projects were at various stages, including site assessment, surveying, drilling, casing, pump installation and testing, adding that contractors had been mobilised for completion within 10 days.
“I am happy to announce that in the next few days, some of our people in communities in need of potable water will start enjoying the commodity.
“The projects based on urgent needs and the expected number of beneficiaries will complement the water supply initiatives of Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s administration,” he said.
According to the statement, Ogun West has 21 boreholes, Ogun Central 20 and Ogun East 19.
He listed beneficiary communities to include Obasanjo Hilltop, Alubarika, Bode Olude, Opeji, Omida, Moriwi, Pahayi Police Station in Ilaro, Ijado, Ijako and Owode-Obafe.
Adeola said other beneficiaries included Ogijo Market, Igbore, Ikenne, Odo Alere Quarters in Ososa, Ibiade and Imakun communities, among others.
He said the boreholes would be powered by generators to ensure efficiency, adding that the projects would support domestic and economic activities as well as preventive healthcare.
The senator said he had previously facilitated similar borehole projects across Ogun in ultra-modern markets, schools, primary healthcare centres and other public facilities.
