The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, has confirmed a fatal accident that occurred on Saturday at the Onipepeye axis of the Abeokuta-Sagamu road.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta.
Ogunjobi said the crash, which occurred at 5:40 p.m., involved a Sino truck and an Opel passenger car.
He stated that FRSC rescue operatives responded promptly, arriving at the scene within seven minutes of receiving the report.
According to him, a total of 10 persons were involved in the crash, comprising four adult males, three adult females, two female children and one male child.
“Seven persons sustained injuries, including three adult females, one female child and three adult males, while three persons, two adult males and one female child lost their lives in the crash,” he said.
Ogunjobi attributed the probable causes of the accident to speed violation and loss of control.
He added that the injured victims had been taken to the State Hospital, Ijaye, for treatment, while the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
The sector commander advised motorists to adhere to speed limits and ensure proper vehicle maintenance to prevent avoidable road crashes.
