Yoruba Self-determination activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has called on monarchs across Yorubaland and other leaders to jon force with him in order to wade off insecurity, occasioned by kidnapping, herders’farmers clash, banditry and others out of the Southwest.
It is widely believed that non-Yoruba engage in these crimes more. Sunday Igboho who made the call through a statement he signed on Friday, said there was a need for Yoruba people to work together in order to ensure peace which is needed for social and economic development.
Recall that the activist recently returned to the country after spending some time in Benin Republic where he had a brush with the law. He returned to Igboho to give his late mother a befitting burial.
He said: “I welcome the idea, and assure them that I will do my best to checkmate incidence of insecurity provided I receive the backing of the relevant security agencies, Yoruba monarchs and other stakeholders.
“Insecurity and threats precipitated by banditry, herders/farmers clashes, leading to deaths and massive destruction of farmlands have driven away farmers and agric entrepreneurs from farm settlements in Yorubaland.
“We need to flush out criminal elements, who have occupied our forests using the place as launch pads to jeopardize the peace in our communities, towns, villages and amulets. I am ready to lend my support in this regard,” the statement reads
