The Federal Government has reached an agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to reinstate visa issuance for Nigerian passport holders seeking to travel to the UAE. This development was announced by Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, during a briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.
The agreement, which takes immediate effect, marks the end of a period of visa restrictions for Nigerian travelers to the Middle Eastern country. The Minister who shared this information with correspondents, highlighted the successful outcome of ongoing discussions between Nigeria and the UAE regarding visa matters.
The Minister said: “You are aware that Nigeria has been discussing with the United Arab Emirates on the issue of visas for Nigerian passport holders going to the United Arab Emirates.
“Today, an agreement has been reached on that, and effective from today 15th July, Nigerian passport holders are able to obtain visas to go to the United Arab Emirates.
“Details of that will be provided to you later today when we put out a statement.
“But I can tell you that the agreement has been reached and effective from today, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to the UAE are able to do so.”
According to Idris, more detailed information about the agreement would be released in a forthcoming statement.
