A civil rights group, Arise Lagos Movement (ALM), has urged Nigerians to dismiss attempts to link President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the ongoing crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
ALM convener, Comrade Abe Kolawole, described the controversy as an orchestrated attempt to tarnish Tinubu’s image, insisting that the issues do not reflect his leadership values or commitment to democracy.
He also dismissed claims that the sealing of the Speaker’s office was ordered by the President, calling it a “Nollywood drama” aimed at creating unnecessary tension.
Kolawole emphasized that Lagos has established mechanisms to resolve political disputes and warned against external interference.
He criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for commenting on the matter, urging him to focus on Adamawa State politics instead of meddling in Lagos affairs.
Co-convener Comrade Olarinde Thomas also called on state leaders to address the crisis swiftly. He urged South-West lawmakers to respect institutional boundaries and described the situation as a “father-and-son” issue that would soon be resolved without outside influence.
