President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate requesting it to confirm the appointment of Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Joash Amupitan.
The President in an executive letter read on the floor by President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio says the confirmation is in accordance with Section 154 sub-section 1 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
The curriculum Vitae of the nominee is attached to the letter.
Last week, Amupitan from Kogi State was nominated by President Tinubu and confirmed by the National Council of State for the job of becoming Nigeria’s next Chief electoral umpire.
His appointment subject to senate confirmation is following the exit of Professor Yakubu Mahmood after the expiration of his tenure in office.
The motion for approval of the appointment of Amupitan was referred to the Committee of the whole for legislative action. No date has been fixed for the exercise.
