More than 200 people suspected of criminal activity have been intercepted in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area. The suspects were found in a truck.
Counsil Chairman Prince Lanre Sanusi said he acted on intelligence provided by residents and immediately contacted the police and other security agencies.
“Today, acting on credible intelligence provided by vigilant residents, I immediately coordinated with security agencies following the interception of a truck conveying over 200 individuals suspected to be involved in criminal activities within Amuwo-Odofin Local Government.”
According to him, he also alerted the Lagos State government. “Given the current security challenges facing our nation, I considered it necessary to take urgent action to safeguard our communities,” Sanusi said in a statement released Friday.
The chairman praised Hon. Moses Olarewaju, the APC House of Representatives candidate for the area, for standing with him throughout the process. “His presence and commitment during this critical moment reflected leadership, courage and genuine concern for the safety and well-being of our people,” Sanusi said.
He described security as his highest priority and promised to keep working with security agencies to investigate all potential threats.
“The security and safety of our residents remain my highest priority. As Executive Chairman, I have a responsibility to protect lives and property, and I will continue to work closely with security agencies to investigate every potential threat and ensure that Amuwo-Odofin remains safe for all law-abiding residents.”
Sanusi also thanked residents for their vigilance and urged them to keep reporting suspicious movements. “I urge all residents to remain alert and continue to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities within their communities. Security is a collective responsibility, and together we can continue to preserve the peace and stability we all desire.. Security is a collective responsibility,” he said.
